ERASMUS
STUDENTS, WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF IOANNINA!
The University of Ioannina welcomes foreign students from all over
Europe who wish to spend a semester or a year studying at Ioannina.
Welcome guide for ERASMUS students
- How can I find out if the university I currently studying at is one
of your Erasmus partners?
Please consult the list of associated Universities.
- Where can I find information about the University of Ioannina?
Please,
open the University prospectus,or contact ESN Ioannina
You can download a map of the University campus here
- What are the language requirements for study at the University of
Ioannina?
All our courses are delivered in Greek; however, incoming Erasmus
students usually carry out assignments in English and furthermore, most
members of the teaching staff offer tutorials in English to many
incoming Erasmus students. Adequate Library material is in English and
hence no student should have any problems in finding books and any other
material required. Almost all if not all people at the University and in
the country in general speak English and nobody should have any
communication problems. Finally, before the student completes his/her Learning Agreement, we
strongly advise that he/she contacts the responsible Professor at our
University to discuss and conclude on the best study programme. When you get here, you can also follow courses in Greek language and
culture (free of charge) at the Center for the Study of the Hellenic
Language and Culture (http://helas.uoi.gr). You may also apply at your home university for an EILC grant, since our
University is one of the three Greek Universities to organize these
summer courses. You may contact directly our Greek Language Center at
langcntr@cc.uoi.gr

- Can I study at your University as a free mover?
Unfortunately, our University does not accept free movers. There must be
a bilateral agreement set up between your home university and our
university.
- Do you have an ECTS system?
Within the academic year 2006/7 the University of Ioannina intends to
support the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), which means that it
will be easy for other European Universities to recognise the subjects
taken by students, the workload and the period of their study at
Ioannina.
However, the Department of History-Archaeology already supports the
European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). For further details, please
